Rhetorical Analysis

Rema Bittar
Short Paper Assignment
Almost everyone you look at in life has something that is very important to them and something they value very much. I don’t mean something that is valuable, in terms of how much money something is, but more along the lines more of something that someone keeps close to their heart or something with great meaning behind it. For example, your mom may have a favorite recipe she cherishes that her mother gave her. The recipe may mean nothing to one person, but to your mother, it may be a recipe her and her mom made together when she was growing up. Or, your younger sister may value a certain teddy bear because it was the first one she had ever received and uses it to sleep at night. It can be a song, an object, or even a certain saying that someone said to you. Something that I value is a bracelet that my older sister bought me.
This bracelet is one that I hold very close to my heart and it applies to pathos the most because it’s what the bracelet means to me on an emotional level. I received this bracelet on August 6, 2008, better known to me as my birthday. This month was my last month of summer before I left to attend The University of Toledo. I was excited and of course nervous to start somewhere new. Also, it meant being away from my family and my two sisters. My sister, Mayssa, is twenty years old and is only a year older than me. We are very close and have been since we were kids. My mom even held her back in fourth grade because she wanted us to go through school side by side. We have the same set of friends and pretty much do everything together and to be quite honest, we consider ourselves to be best friends. Moreover, we have had each other’s backs on absolutely everything and provide one another with the best advice possible. The college of Mayssa’s choice was Youngstown State University and I chose the University of Toledo. This was going to be the first time we were really going to be at a distance for a long time. We knew how weird it was going to be for us to go through college at the same time, but at a distance. Therefore, receiving that bracelet as a birthday and going away gift meant the world to me.
The little box the bracelet was in a little grey box labeled Things Remembered. I opened it to see the most beautiful bracelet wrapped in a little bit of tissue paper. She chose the color of the bracelet to be grey. The reason she chose that is because grey is my favorite color, to wear that is. I love wearing grey when I go out because it’s a simple, classy color that goes with everything and I love wearing jewelry. The color was perfect because the bracelet is really dressy so I could wear it when I was going out to dinner or a special event. It has two silver hearts on it, one that is smaller and the other bigger one has something engraved on both sides. One side has my initials, RB, the other side says Love you on it. The font is simple with the letters curved so it’s not just plain and ordinary. I tried it on immediately and it fit me perfectly.
